Easter Experience

Reaching out to Schools at Easter

The 2011 Easter Experience play was presented to local primary schools during the week beginning Monday 28 March. Schools that sent classes to Carshalton Methodist Churchg this year were Holy Trinity CE, Collingwood, Rushey Meadow, All Saints CE Carshalton, St Mary's RC, Stanley Park, Camden and Barrow Hedges. Congratulations to all our church members and others who took part in this very worthwhile piece of outreach to local children.

Carshalton Methodist Church is one of several Sutton churches that reach out to their local schools by running the Easter Experience co-ordinated by the Sutton Schools Christian Worker. Over the course of a week hundreds of local school children and their teachers visit our church to take part in the drama of Easter.

The visiting children participate as extras in the events of the last week of Christ's life - His arrival in Jerusalem to a sea of waving palm leaves; His ejection of the profiteers from the Temple; His capture and trial before the Roman Governor, Pontious Pilate; and finally His Passion and Resurrection. Below: Trial of Jesus before Pilate; the Last Supper; and some austere-looking Temple priests.
