Five Year Plan

Our Church thinks ahead

Our Church has a five year plan created after much discussion with church members. We pray that our work on these priorities will help us to meet the challenges of the future. The key principles of our plan are:-
x
Focus on Community
We believe we are called by our Methodist traditions to be an important focus for our community. We will be vocal about what Methodism stands for locally. We will build stronger links with the organisations using our site, developing the strengths that they and we already have in the arts – dance, drama, music, craft, photography and cinema. We will be evident at local community events like the Good Friday Walk of Witness and Environmental Fair.

Develop our Spirituality
Those that we attract through outreach will find a real welcome and plenty of opportunities to develop their faith within the church. Our offer will be based on a defined range on worship styles, teaching and learning about the Bible, pilgrimage, well-supported pastoral carers and an effective network of home groups.

Outreach
We will strengthen the organisation around our outreach activities. We will engage a paid worker for three years to help develop serious relations with our community – notably local residents, local organisations and businesses. We will expand the literature that we have available to give to people.
x
Buildings
We will invest to make our church look more open and accessible, giving attractive information about our programmes and activities. Inside our buildings the first impression will be that we are multi-purpose, full of colour and excitement. We will strengthen our Property Committee and enable them to create realistic improvement plans in support of our Church's mission.
x
Target Groups
All will be welcome at our church but for the next five years our key target groups will be people in the 35-60 age group and growing families. We will look at what we offer to young people and this will begin with more collaboration between the services that our site already offers to young adults and children.
x
Finance
We will invest church funds and seek grants where these achieve our prime objectives. We owe it to our members to tell them the costs of running the church premises so they can make informed decisions about the nature and extent of their personal contributions.
x
Support for our Volunteers
We will ensure that our volunteers receive effective training and support in their roles.
