Interstellar concert and planetarium

Saturday 28 November

To celebrate 100 years since our church building opened and our organ began playing, we invite you to join us on a journey through space and time with a double bill of out-of-this-world events:

World-renowned organist Roger Sayer brings the epic Interstellar film score to Carshalton Methodist Church at 7.30pm

During the day from 10.30am to 5pm our church hosts a mobile planetarium exploring the wonders of the universe and space travel.

Interstellar organ concert

At 7.30pm Roger Sayer - chosen by composer Hans Zimmer for his soundtrack to Christopher Nolan's film Interstellar - will perform a powerful space-themed concert. Beginning with music from Thunderbirds, ET and Star Wars, the programme will major on the ground-breaking score for Interstellar, recorded by Roger himself. The evening will include a short film about the making of the Interstellar soundtrack, offering insight into the collaboration behind one of cinema’s most unforgettable soundscapes. You’ll hear first hand Roger’s experiences working with cinematic greats Nolan and Zimmer and be able to ask him questions in a Q&A session.

Roger has been performing his unique Interstellar event to sell-out audiences across the world and we are delighted to be welcoming him to our church – an event not to be missed!

Tickets £20 (no booking fee). Doors open 7pm.

How to find us

Carshalton Methodist Church is located on Ruskin Road, Carshalton, Surrey SM5 3DE, at the north-west end of Carshalton Park. Show on map

As you approach from the road, the church is the white painted building on your left. (The building on the right - looking rather like a church because originally it was - is the Ruskin Hall).

By bus: We are not far from the 154 bus route (get off at the Windsor Castle pub). The 157, 407 and SL7 (formerly X26) bus routes run through nearby Carshalton Village, about 8 minutes walk.

By train: The nearest railway stations are Carshalton and Carshalton Beeches, both 15-20 minutes walk. Both stations are 30-40 minutes from London Victoria and London Bridge. Carshalton is also served by the Thameslink line.

By car: Limited unrestricted on-street parking is available in The Park (the road to the west of the church site) and on parts of Ruskin Road. The hard standing on the corner of the church site is reserved for people with reduced mobility and their drivers. Please be considerate to local residents, particularly in The Park, by parking correctly - thank you.
